In 2017, thanks to the support of our customers, we are commemorating our 100th anniversary. We sincerely appreciate your steadfast loyalty over such a long period of time. Today, we would like to announce that we will increase the price of BLUE LABEL Clamshell Go stones due to the following reasons. We thank you in advance for your understanding.
Price increase of BLUE LABEL Stones
(Starting from March 1st, 2017, 12:00 Japan time)
Since their release on January 1st, 2016, our BLUE LABEL stones have become very popular and we have received a large number of orders from customers all over the world. We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt appreciation for your continuous support.
However, we have been facing several difficulties in the past decade, such as price hikes of raw materials, and tighter regulations in Mexico regarding the collection and export of clamshells to Japan. Recently, it has become more and more difficult to obtain sufficient quantities of raw material.
In addition, Japanese craftsmen of Nachiguro black slate stones are getting older. This leads to labor shortage in the field of Go stone manufacturing, and we project that this will result into the price appreciation of black stones in a near future. Kuroki Goishi has attempted to maintain our current prices through significant in-house efforts, but it will be hard to absorb these price hikes only by ourselves.
Therefore, we regret to announce that we will increase the price of BLUE LABEL clamshell stones as of March 1st, 2017. Thank you in advance for your kind understanding on this matter and continuing support. We will continue to dedicate our work to manufacture products of the highest quality as well as other valued items, and to preserve our traditions and technique to create Go stones made from natural clamshells.
