How to Care Kaya Board
It usually takes 15years for Go boards made from Kaya wood to be completely dried and totally stabilized. Log is roughly cut and air-dried for 4-5 years before it is processed into Go board, however, the wood is not totally dried at this stage. If you do not give board an appropriate care or maintenance, the board will have crack, got mildewed and badly degraded several years later. Please keep the followings in your mind after purchasing own board.
- Please keep out from direct sunlight (Ex. velanda) and heating source. (Sudden change of temperature and humidity may cause crack.)
- Please keep out from dry strong wind and overcooled air-conditioned room. (Extremely low humidity may cause crack.)
- During the rainy season, please clean the board with dry cotton cloth on regular basis to wipe the moisture on board surface. Otherwise, high humidity may cause mold or mildew.
- Once the board has cracks, rub a white wax between the cracks and cover it with paper tape to prevent dust. After 2 years the cracked area is completely bonded and will be hardly seen.
Please keep the above maintenance tips in your mind especially after 2years from purchasing. After that, the board itself will be more stabilized and hardly cracked due to some impact or shocks.
The older, the more valuable the Kaya board will be with its color depth and quality stabilization.
We recommend customers to put Paulownia cover on the board and sometimes clean the board with dry cotton.

How to Care Go stone
When the white Go stones get dirty and its color turn to yellowish, please put stones in a cotton bag and wash in soapy water using neutral detergent. After that, please dry stones well and rub the stones in a cotton bag again to be polished each other.
